Import Tips and Troubleshooting

Best practices for clean imports and resolving common issues.

Best Practices

  1. Catalog first, then menus — The catalog is your brand-wide master product list. Menu items link to catalog products.
  2. Use enrichment files when available — A Dutchie Inventory + Catalog combo gives the best results.
  3. Save your import profile after the first import. Future imports with the same format skip the mapping step.
  4. Review "Not in CSV" carefully during menu re-imports. Products removed from your POS probably need to be hidden.

Common Questions

  • Will importing create duplicates? No. The system checks by external ID, SKU, and name.
  • Can I import more than once? Yes. Re-importing is safe. The system shows what's new, changed, and missing.
  • What if my CSV format isn't recognized? As long as columns have recognizable headers (name, price, category, etc.), the system will attempt to map them.
